Award winning, New York Designer, Lisa Jenks is inspired by ancient cultures, varying textures and intricate patterns. Those inspirations have been the foundation for her collections in jewelry, tabletop, accessories, and home décor. Having started as a clothing designer after graduating from Parsons School of Design, Lisa launched her own company in 1987 concentrating initially on sterling silver jewelry that quickly became a distinctive focus in the designer jewelry world.
The company, Lisa Jenks Limited, is known for its unique and always inspiring designs as Lisa branched into leather goods, flatware, picture frames, and gift accessories. Lisa says she cannot imagine doing anything but designing. She has a fresh approach to combining metals with other materials and takes a whimsical slant to infusing form with function. Just looking at her latest collections in home décor presents a window into her evolution as a designer. Lisa was chosen in 2004 to be an artist in residence with Origins, an Estee Lauder company, designing gift collections for their company-owned stores and creating all the designs for their holiday and Mother’s Day packaging for three seasons.
Today, Lisa is focusing her work on tabletop, home décor, textiles and some new jewelry. She entered into a licensing agreement with Lifetime Brands, Inc. in 2006 to create a line of tabletop, frames, and giftware. Currently, Lisa’s work includes six stainless steel flatware patterns, four picture frame patterns, and a wide assortment of glass and home decor pieces. A dinnerware and glassware collection will be launched at the New York Tabletop Market in October 2007. Lisa also has a license with Homestead, a member of the Li & Fung Group for bedding, pillows, duvets, table linens, and other textile products which launched at the New York Textile market in August, 2007. And Lisa is stretching her design influences with her newest jewelry collection exclusively for QVC called “Utility” launching late Fall 2007.
Lisa is a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. She was the named WJA Designer of the Year in 2006. In 2003 Lisa was an American finalist in the International DeBeers Diamond Jewelry Design Award and in 1991 Lisa won the ID magazine product design award. The Accent on Design trade show acknowledged Lisa’s creativity with their Continuing Excellence in Design Award in 1994. Lisa is married to Chris Callis, an award winning photographer, and they reside in New York City with their two children.
